Design

We work closely with your team from the outset, providing technical guidance on design, materials, and manufacturing methods to ensure your part is right first time.

By integrating seamlessly with your development process, we help reduce risk, avoid costly redesigns, and shorten lead times — allowing you to move forward with confidence.

Tool Making

The best parts start with the best tools, and it is always our priority to ensure your design and production requirements are met with cost-effective and reliable tooling — whether for prototype, small batch or high-volume serial production.

To achieve excellent part quality and consistent output from our thermoforming machinery, we recommend temperature-controlled mould tooling as standard.

Forming

Vacuum forming is at the core of what we do. Using heat, pressure, and precision tooling, we shape flat plastic sheets into complex, repeatable parts. From 100mm x 100mm sheet size to 2500mm x 2200mm we cater for all projects large and small. We also offer related forming processes such as drape forming, blow moulding, and line bending, depending on your design and performance requirements.

Trimming

Our advanced 5-axis CNC trimming machines deliver fast, precise finishing on complex vacuum formed components. With automatic tool changers and a working envelope of up to 4 x 4 x 1.5 metres, we handle everything from small detailed parts to large structural panels with ease. Each part is held in a custom-machined trim jig to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistency across production runs.

PU Foaming

We use high-precision pressurised dosing machines to apply rigid polyurethane foam to vacuum formed components. This process adds structural strength, improves rigidity, and provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. It’s ideal for strengthening large panels or creating insulated parts for transport, refridgeration, and appliance applications without adding unnecessary weight.

Bonding

Our operators are externally trained in structural adhesive bonding to the demanding standards of the automotive and rail industries. This ensures consistent, reliable bonds within subassemblies and allows us to manufacture tougher, more capable components than vacuum forming alone, including multi part and reinforced assemblies.

Assembly

Skilled technicians provide assembly services to deliver a finished product that’s ready to ship. From mechanical fixings to precision riveting, deburring, and final detailing, we handle every step with care and consistency. Whether it’s a single component or a complete sub-assembly, we ensure each part leaves our facility production-ready and built to your exact specification.

Recycling

We operate a closed loop recycling system for production waste, using our own sorting and in house granulation facility. The resulting high quality, dust free recyclate is supplied to our extrusion partners to be converted into new plastic sheet. This level of control allows higher recycled content to be used in our products without compromising surface finish or consistency. Our Environmental Management System is certified to ISO 14001.

3D Scanning

Seaborne Plastics utilises 3D scanning technology for reverse engineering as well as process quality control of formed and trimmed components. High resolution scans allow us to accurately capture existing parts, verify critical features and compare finished components against CAD data. This capability supports rapid reproduction of legacy parts, tighter process control and greater consistency across production runs.

Quality

We operate a dedicated quality department with trained inspection staff and an ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System. Our temperature controlled quality room is equipped with a granite reference table and FaroArm gauge for accurate dimensional inspection. We carry out first off and random inspections on every production run, alongside full drawing and revision reviews at order stage, ensuring components consistently meet specification.
