Design & Tool Making

The process of Engineering Excellence begins with Design and Tool making

Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Seaborne Plastics employ a team of dedicated designers to help you with every aspect of initial tooling. Whether you come to us with the first principals of an idea or your own CAD files we will produce precise 3D data ensuring accurate tool making.

The design department continues to benefit from the ongoing investment in technology and people that is standard throughout the company, the experience and skills we offer remain unmatched in our industry.

Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM)

A permanent, unbroken link between the CAD and CAM processes is your guarantee of accurate tool making and production. Your finished design is handed to engineers, highly skilled in all aspects of the CAM processes. The fact that Seaborne Plastics is situated entirely on one site assures you that there is no opportunity for error in transferring your job between departments.

Typical of the quality of our production equipment is our heavy-duty 5 axis-milling machine; secured to a 30 tonne concrete block this machine alone is capable of complex trimming with a repeatable accuracy of 0.10mm.

Tool Making

The importance of traditional tool making at Seaborne Plastics cannot be over emphasised. The skills of a time served craftsman are irreplaceable both in terms of service and standards, with post-prototype modifications made quickly and accurately.

On-site tool making provides a quicker turnaround whether your requirement is for wooden, resin, aluminium or temperature controlled aluminium tooling. Our combination of craftsmen and technology delivers an individual service tailored specifically to your job.
